Cowan Cup Pairs (East District Congress)

Our 2 day Congress consists of Swiss Pairs on Saturday June 1st for the Cowan Cup and Swiss Teams on Sunday June 2nd for the Hunter Cup. Both days start at 11.00am and will finish about 6.00pm.and will be held at the Carlton Bridge Club in Edinburgh.

48 boards playing either 8 x 6 board matches or 6 x 8 board matches depending on the numbers participating. There will be a break midway with food and drinks available to purchase from the Carlton caterer. (It should be noted that players should not bring their own food into the Club though obviously they can eat their own in a car or outside.)

This is an Open event with any SBU players welcome to join us. Masterpoints will be awarded as follows -

The win/draw award would be 0.18 for a 6-board match or 0.24 for an 8-board match. These would be Local (Black) points.

The bonus would be TOEx6 for the pairs and TOEx12 for the teams reducing to the top quarter with a maximum of 7.50. These would be National (Red) points.

There will be cash prizes for the top places and also for the best Silver and Bronze Pairs/Teams..

The entry fee is £30 per pair for the Swiss Pairs.

Need to cancel?

If you no longer wish to play in an event, you can use the Cancellation Link which is included in your emailed entry receipt, so hang on to that.

If you need to change your lineup, please contact the convener directly (as shown on the event details page). You could also cancel and re-enter.

General Notes

Please take care when entering your email address - we use this to contact you about the event. You may if you wish add your contact telephone number - if you are adding your name to an event waiting list, please do this so we can get in touch as soon as a space becomes available.

Players should endeavour to arrive at the venue or be in position online at least 15 minutes before the start of the event – anyone unable to attend should make every effort to inform the Convener.

BBO Competitions

For most BBO events you simply register in BBO as usual, making sure you allow enough time. You must also register your BBO user name in MEMPAD or you won't be able to play.

If you get this error you will need to refresh the registration page and may have to re-enter your information. Payment is separate and unaffected - if you have already paid just tick the "I have paid" box before submitting (do not try to pay twice!). The ReCAPTCHA module protects us from automated spam but very occasionally finds something to complain about in a normal entry.
