Heats:
Please note that there will not be a Borders heat this year after all.
Due to a couple of withdrawals, we have added two more qualifiers from those scoring 52-53%. This also allows us to rebalance a little since applying the one-third rule at the global level had left some heat venues less well represented than their numbers would suggest. Thus one additional pair each from the Dunfermline and Carlton heats are now added to the list and we expect to have a full 14 tables.
The number of participants being higher than last year and there being no semi-final planned, this meant some difficulty in deciding the cut-off for qualification, hence the delay.
The opportunity for every pair to play every other pair for two boards was judged the main priority, this limits the size of the field for the final to approximately 28 pairs, which is one third of the entry.
Pairs with a heat score of above 53% have qualified. Some players played in more than one heat but naturally only their first score was taken into account for qualification purposes. The list of qualifiers is shown below. Any pair unable to play is kindly requested to inform the organiser, William (Bill) Whyte at .
